School Focused Consultation and Training for Mental Health Clinicians

Public schools are among the most important yet complex settings in which mental health clinicians serve.  The clinician's role within school entails both direct service and consultation with respect to a wide range of presenting issues and underlying dynamics,  As primary care pediatric mental health providers and consultants the school based clinician is challenged by both the diversity of their responsibilities, as well as the isolation associated with work within an educational culture with values, ethics and modes of understanding which are quite distinct from that of the clinical culture.

Participation in our school focused mental health consultation and training program is designed to provide on-going (year long) clinical support and training focused on the reality and complexity of work within the schools.  Join us for 70 minutes weekly in our interactive discussions streamed to your computer at school or home.  This program  is not only intended to support school clinicians in gaining additional clinical skills but is also an economical and timely way to earn CEUs and join a community of mental health providers who are facing many of the same challenges.

Our seminar director, Dr. John Stewart is widely recognized for his clear, insightful and pragmatic perspective on school based mental health services. He has over 30 years of experience working with complex children within the public schools and extensive on-going involvement in training social workers, psychologists and child psychiatrists (please visit- "Who We Are"- for more information).

"You will not find an individual more passionate or knowledgeable about school based mental health than Dr. Stewart.  The breadth of his knowledge, warmth, humor and creativity make him a wonderful supervisor and teacher."   Sherry Zeoller, MSW
